You will start the drive to mabamba via Nakawuka and several bird spotting as soon as you start the drive west of Kampala. When you reach Mabamba, you take a canoe with an experienced paddler and your guide through the narrow channels in search of the beautiful feathered birds. The shoebill is best seen in the morning when its trying to find its prey (mudfish). You will spend about 2-3 hours on the boat then drive to Nkima forest lodge about a 5 minutes drive from the boat area for lunch. You have lunch and rest for about 1 hour then go to Nkima forest in search of the forest bird species. After several sightings of bird species on this 1 day birding safari Uganda, you will be driven back slowly by your knowledgeable birding driver guide to Kampala or Entebbe.

On this short birding safari, anticipate to see bird species like ; Swamp Flycatcher, African Water Rail, African Purple Swamp-hen, Common Moorhen, African Jacana, Lesser Jacana, African Pygmy Goose, White-faced Whistling-duck, Rufous-bellied and Purple Heron, Winding Cisticola, Blue-breasted Bee-eater, Goliath Heron, Black Crake, African Marsh Harrier, Malachite and Pied Kingfishers, Yellow-billed Duck, Common Waxbill, Blue-headed Cuckoo, Intermediate Egret, Fan-tailed Widowbird, Long-toed Lapwing, Osprey, Red-billed Fire-finch and African Pied Wagtail.
